So, I’ve been busy.

So, I’ve been busy.

The Entama and Uratama shell pages are officially complete. The Entama page also includes the four CYOI designs, since the CYOI itself was too minor of a change from the Entama to justify a whole new article about it.

As always, if you notice any glaring omissions, feel free to let me know. Alternatively, reblog with your favorite shell or ones from your collection. c:

My Baby Bat: Age 12

My Baby Bat: Age 12

Skinny bat! It took me a moment to figure out what’s going on in that screen, but he’s walking down the road with his wings out and a tiny stick body.

Skinny is considered Bad Care, and they used weight as the metric. I’m not totally sure what the skinny range is, but I know that you can’t go any lower than 3.

Made it, though! Would I run this again? Eh… Once I had my system in place it wasn’t so bad, but it’s pretty needy. And loud. And I hate the game. Losing hearts for losing the game is pretty shitty.

I feel like it’s getting hungrier faster now, but I’ll run it until it dies.

I did see the happiness and discipline meters go out of sync a few times, I’m not sure what causes that?

My Baby Bat: Age 5, 6

My Baby Bat: Age 5, 6

At age five the weight went up by two for seemingly no reason? I’ve been at 3 for ages, then it went up to two. Age 5 might be a milestone.

Next day Batty grew ears! And lost two grams. Kari’s Bat gained another gram on top of yesterday’s two. I’m still lost about how care works, considering I left batty at home at Age 4 by mistake while I went to work and came back with more weight, but I took care of it well yesterday and lost weight.

My Baby Bat: Age 2-3, 3 grams

My Baby Bat: Age 2-3, 3 grams

Including age three because it seems to be the same as yesterday.

Batty grew legs and a road to walk on! The meters are really tedious to keep up since the main game is luck-based, and I definitely let it get sick twice. Getting sick seems to lower weight, and I haven’t been able to increase weight since then.

I’ve developed a system that seems to be working mostly. Since the main game may take a while to get hearts up, I play until I can get two hearts filled. Then I praise for another heart, and study for the last heart.

If used sparingly, praise works much more consistently. When used too much, the luck factor kicks in and you have to fight the 50/50 chance there too.

I thought the study was the “discipline” here, but the bat actually likes to study! I haven’t encountered a negative emotion for it yet, it seems to either be happy or it will reject the action.

Likes to call to play a single successful round of the game. I hate these calls, they fuck me up. It’s much more likely that I’ll fail enough to kill a bunch of hearts just to win one round and then I can’t use the praise or study anymore so I just flip tables instead.

The instructions said that Batty would sleep at 900pm. However the past few nights, while I’ve been able to put on Batty’s PJs at 9, Batty won’t actually sleep until about 940pm. It was weird last night at like 942pm. I figured it was going to be 945, so I filled up it’s last hunger heart and was about to give it praise to fill up the other hearts when suddenly it was sleeping.

The night before I turned out the lights at 900pm and it was simply black, telling me that it wasn’t sleeping. So it picks it’s own sleep time. Or maybe it has to do with when I put on the PJs?

I worry that Batty won’t live too much longer, since the weight is so low. I feel like it uses weight as a care penalty, since there are evolutionary differences that look weight-based.

Where Rexy is too quiet I feel, Batty is wayyyy too loud with it’s everyday sounds. But then, it’s alert sound is a single beep. Make up your mind!

Seeing some growth! I was getting worried there for a second. It’s cool that pretty much all the idle animations grow slightly!

Went from zero to two, let’s see what happens!

No update on Rexy since he looks the same. Age 3 and 5lbs.

yes, a five pound t-rex.

My Baby Bat: Age 0, Day 1

My Baby Bat: Age 0, Day 1

Running this with a friend! Decided it would be a good spooky pet to run.

This is from the same family of watch pets that made “Ganbare!! Ryuuta-kun” and “Ganbare!! Inuda-kun”. Those are the two that have a dino sticking it’s head out of an egg shell, and a dog with it’s head hanging over a dog house. There’s also a bear, but I don’t think it has the “Ganbare!!” title (My Lovely Bear?). I’ve only ever seen the bat in this shell.

Since it’s roots are in the wrist-watch style, the entire back plate comes off, and it has a place to slide a CR2032 battery inside. Not a fan of the screws they used for the back, tbh.

I was stumped pretty quickly after setting the time. I couldn’t get out of the time screen! Turns out you NEED to hit Reset after setting the time, since that starts the game, while keeping the time you just set.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what the heck is going on in the hatching sequence.

Once that’s done, I got a weird tadpole!

I’ve never ran anything from this line, so this is all new to me. You have three stats to keep track of, Happy, Discipline, and Hunger. The instructions claim the worm is the meal and leaf is a snack, but the worm doesn’t fill the meter at all. I’ve pretty much just been feeding him leaves, since those do fill the meter.

Happy and Discipline seem to be connected. Haven’t seen one move independently of the other yet.

The game is a left-right style. Each round is a separate game. The pet keeps track of an OVERALL score. You can exit and come back and it’ll pick up when you left off. It won’t tell you the score though. Win three and Happiness increases one heart. Lose three and it decreases one heart. Winning is pretty random, though sometimes I feel like I found a rhythm, then suddenly I’m losing every round.

Not a fan of any type of game that loses hearts over losing a game.

There’s a “Praise” function, which the bat may or may not feel like doing. I’ve accepted this as another game, myself. If he’s happy you praise him three times, Happy goes up one heart. If he’s unhappy you praise him three times, you lose one heart. His mood is totally random.

I really don’t like random games 🙁

Batty will never show poop on the screen. It’s got one of those “status” screens you have to check manually to see if there is poop to clean.

Before putting him to bed, you need to put on his.. bat-pjs, I guess. Then turn out the light. Batty sleeps from 900pm until 800am. You also need to take the pjs off in the morning.

Occasionally I’ll get a call and I won’t know what it’s for. Last time I can’t tell if the alert timed out or if he really just wanted to play the left-right game, as it disappeared after playing that once or twice.

Due to the randomness of Happiness, this pet is already a lot of maintenance. I wonder how hardy it is.
